For example a typical 1800-2000 caloric intake in your twenties or thirties would be reduced to 1700-1900 in your forties and 1600-1800 in your fifties. Change your beliefs: If you believe that midlife will make you gain ten pounds per decade, guess what? It will. You need to recognize that beliefs aren’t facts and they can change. Not allowing midlife weight gain to be a self-fulfilling prophecy will decrease your chance of heart disease, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, breast cancer, colon cancer, fatty liver disease and osteoarthritis to name a few.
